Hi Josh,
I'm fairly new to Frame Forge, and just found these forums not to long ago.
I opened the program and toyed with it to see the best way to make half a person. If you double click on the character and go to the posing tab, and bend the character's back 90 degrees to his legs, and then lower his elevation to where his legs are in the ground, it gives a pretty interesting look. I don't know if it's what you are looking for, but it's a simple way to do it.
